I wish I’d reversed the colors. The red is the background, and the grey is the contrast, but the eyes are drawn to the red. Because of this, it’s hard to see the actual pattern design.

I am getting 5 stitches to the inch instead of the gauge of 4.5 stitches, so this is coming out a little small. If my gauge remains the same, the final size will be 39” instead of 43”.

I was using size 8 needles (as noted in the pattern), but the fabric is too dense and the gauge is making this too small. I’m on row 20 and I’m going to increase my needle size to a 9 to see if that helps gauge and density.

Just finished the main body (not the collar yet). I had just a tiny handful of yarn left from each ball. It took exactly 2 skeins of yarn of each color to complete the body.

Finished the first sleeve. I’m noticing some of the yarns are pulling out of my steeks at the armhole. This was my first steeking project and it appears that 2 rows of small straight stitches was not enough to hold.

Not happy with this at all. The armhole/shoulder has a weird bulge. The yarn pilled badly while I was knitting so it already is fuzzy and abraded and looks worn out. The contrast between the colors is bad so the design doesn’t ‘pop’.
