The size should take just under 7 balls of yarn, so I purchased an 8th just to be sure.

I’m getting gauge, but I don’t like how stiff this fabric is. Just like my previous attempt to knit this, I think it should use a slightly thinner yarn to have more drape.

Finished skein 1 at the beginning of the right waist shaping.
04-14-2022
Finished the waist shaping section. I’m using the recommended yarn, and getting the recommended gauge, but when I finished this section I am finding the neckline is almost 5cm bigger than it is supposed to be. I’m pretty sure this is going to be too big.

Finished the whole right shoulder section. Now time to cast on for the left shoulder.

Starting skein 4 at the beginning of the waist increases

Starting the garter stitch hem.
04-26-2022
Just finished the bottom garter hem. I tried it on, and it originally looked way too big but I think it will end up being just right. It’s tough to tell for sure because of the waste yarn in the way in the neckline and the neckline still needs to be grafted together.

Started skein 5 about a quarter of the way through the neckline garter stitch.
04-28-2022
Finished the neckline! I need to do some blocking to remove puckers where the front/back diagonal lines form a point at the waist. Then time to start the sleeves.
The real color is the one where I was trying on the sweater over my blue t-shirt. All the other pictures make it look much lighter/brighter

One warning, the sleeve stitch counts don’t add up. For example, it says that for XL we are starting with 80 stitches. We will do the decrease round 14 times (each decrease round removes 2 stitches) so that is 80-28 = 52. But the stitch count says that we will have 50 stitches.

Started skein 6 with about 5 inches left in the first sleeve.

Bound off the first sleeve. I knitted to row 116 then started the cuff.

Started ball 7 with only 16 rows to go on the second sleeve.

Knitting done. Ends woven in. Button flaps sewn in. I still need to block and sew on buttons.

I really need to learn my lesson about Malabrigo. There is constantly a HUGE difference in color between skeins, even when you buy them from the same batch.
