Obscure, brain frippery alert
I stole the name for this scarf “petit pan de mur jaune” (or little patch of yellow) from a phrase which is uttered by a character in Proust’s multi-volume novel In Search of Lost Time, as he is overcome with emotion upon viewing what is one of my favorite Vermeer paintings, View of Delft, c.1660.

In fact, the Proust character is overcome by just one tiny area of the painting, a place where the sun hits part of the roof of a building and creates a stunning “little patch of yellow” .

So there you go.

I did warn you :-P
