This blanket is VERY dense and heavy. Great for New England winters.

I chained 198 in order to add an additional repeat vertically.

I’m use to reading knit lace charts so I thought I wouldn’t have a problem with this mosaic chart but it took a while to understand what I needed to do and become comfortable reading the chart. It was very easy to make mistakes and mistakes were costly time wise because 2 rows took 1/2 hour to crochet and frequently I wouldn’t find the initial mistake until 2 rows later. A few of the mistakes I could “fudge” and the effect was the same but some mistakes just had to be ripped out and reworked.

I thought I had enough of the silver grey yarn in my stash to make this but I needed to buy two more skeins in order to complete. The dye lots are different but luckily close enough that it’s not obvious.

The original border pattern looks fine in their photos but I found it to be structurally out of sync with the rest of the afghan so my border is:

Row 1: Same as pattern. I worked 1 sc for each stitch horizontally and 3 sc for every 4 rows vertically.

Row 2: Same as pattern.

Row 3: Ch 1, TURN. Working in front loop only, sl st in each st around. Fasten off.
