Notes

I ran out of the first ball of yarn when I had 274 stitches.

January 2 - I finished knitting the shawl this evening. I knit 8 border rows. For the last 4 rows plus the bind off I used 3.5mm needles to give it a bit extra “give” as the yarn has no elasticity. It used 98.8g - 326m (355.7y). There was 0.8g left of the second ball.

I blocked it to 37” wide at its widest x 13-3/4” long in the centre.

Using 3.25mm needles, I’m going to cast on 36 sts, 2 ktbl on each side with stocking stitch on the centre 32 sts. It was 4-3/4” wide. The gauge was 6.74 sts/“ (26.9 sts/4”). After blocking it was 4-11/12” wide.

I’m going to try 3mm needles and see how that works out. I’m going to cast on 32 sts, 2 ktbl on each side with stocking stitch on the centre 28 sts. I knit 4 rows of garter stitch, then 18 rows of stocking stitch. It was 4” wide x 1-7/8” long. The gauge was 7 sts x 9.6 rows = 1”. After blocking it was 3-7/8” wide x 2” long. The gauge is 7.23 sts x 9 rows = 1” x 1” - 28.9 sts x 36 rows = 4” x 4”. Almost perfect, so I’ll use 3mm needles.

The first ball weighed 50.3g. The second ball weighed 48.5g.
