The eighth pair of oven mitts I’ve made. The second pair for me, the rest as gifts. They work amazingly well!! I started by knitting one round and purling the second round to stop the stocking stitch from curling.

I’m going to make two 2 st (doubled yarn) i-cords 5” long and attach them to each mitt so they have a loop to hang from.

Because I knit TAAT and the yarn is doubled, I used one skein for each oven mitt.

The mitts, with the hanging loops, used 227.2g (436.2m/447.1y).

Before felting the mitts are 16-1/4” (41.5cm) long x 6-1/4” (16cm) wide. Thumb is 2- 1/4” (6cm) wide x 3-1/4” (8.5cm) long on side against the hand and 5” (13cm) long from the bottom of the gusset.

After felting the mitts are 11-1/2” (29cm) long x 5 -1/4” (13.5cm) wide. Thumb is 2” (5cm) wide x 2.75” (7cm) long on side against the hand and 4” (10cm) long from the bottom of the gusset.

I ran out of the 68.5g skein on the 46th round near the beginning of the round. I ran out of the 21.1g skein on the same mitt as before near the beginning of the 61st round. There was only 3.5g left of the 17.7g skein so I saved it for the hanging loops and started the 92.1g skein. I ran out of the 90g skein. There’s 0.5g left of the 3.5g of piece of yarn. There’s 71.1g left of the 92.3g skein. There’s 82.9g left of the 92.1g skein.

The first skein, which was new (the outside strand was still tucked in the centre of the skein), weighed 90g. The second skein weighed 68.5g. The third skein weighed 21.1g. The fourth skein weighed 17.7g. The fifth skein weighed 92.1g.
