I worked on this in between other things, otherwise it was quick and easy to knit. I wanted to mostly mirror the stripes from the bottom to the top of the body and sleeves.
I started the body with Chunky Tweed, using about 20% of the total amount of this yarn. The first ball weighed 89.3g. The second ball weighed 87.6g. It used 173.5g over 38 rows. There’s 3.4g left. I left it attached for now to use in case of emergency or for seaming later.
Now I’m going to use about 20% of the Chunky yarn. The first ball weighed 105.2g. The second ball weighed 107.7g. It used 124.6g over 26 rows for a total of 64 rows. There’s 88.3g left of the second ball.
Now I’m going to use about 15% of the Chunky Tweed. The third ball weighed 85.9g. The fourth ball weighed 88.2g. It used 131g over 26 rows for a total of 90 rows. There’s 43.1g left of the fourth ball.
Now I’m going to use about 15% of the Chunky yarn. There’s 88.3g left of the second ball. The third ball weighed 106.2g. It used a total of 95.5g over 21 rows for a total of 111 rows. There’s 99g left of the third ball.
I stopped to figure out my yarn usage and I won’t have enough so I’m going to used Red Heart with Wool - Jet to make up the difference as I got the same gauge with it. My row gauge is out slightly so I have to add 6 rows to the body, 2 rows to the backs and front, 2 rows to the sleeves, and 2 rows to the collar backs and front. I should only need 22 total rows of Jet for the body and the backs and front, but to be safe I’m going to use 24 total rows to ensure there’s enough of the other two for the collar and sleeves.
Now I’m going to use Jet for 9 rows. The first ball weighed 100g. The 9 rows used 44.6g for a total of 120 rows. There’s 55.4g left of the first ball.
Now I’m going to use about 10% of Tweed so I’ll need to work 19 rows (1/2 of the 38 rows I worked for 20%). There’s 44.1g left of the fourth ball. The fifth ball weighed 87g. The 19 rows used 90.8g for a total of 139 rows. There’s 40g left of the fifth ball.
Now I’m going to use Jet for 6 rows. There’s 55.4g left of the first ball. The 6 rows of Jet used 29.8g for a total of 145 rows. There’s 25.6g left of the first ball.
Now I’m going to use about 10% of Chunky which is 13 rows. There’s 99g left of the third ball. The 13 rows used 61.6g for a total of 158 rows. There’s 37.4g left of the third ball.
Now I’m going to use Jet for 9 rows. There’s 25.6g left of the first ball. The second ball weighed 100.4g. The 9 rows used 45.6g for a total of 167 rows. There’s 80.4g left of the second ball.
To use 15% of Chunky I need 21 rows. There’s 37.4g left of the third ball. The fourth ball weighed 103.1g. The 21 rows used 98.6g for a total of 188 rows. There’s 41.9g left of the fourth ball.
To use 15% of Tweed I need 26 rows. There’s 40g left of the fifth ball. The sixth ball weighed 85g.
The first ball of Patons Shetland Chunky - Dark Navy, weighed 105.2g. The second ball weighed 107.7g. The third ball weighed 106.2g. The fourth ball weighed 103.1g. The fifth ball weighed 101.6g. The sixth ball weighed 106.2g.
Total of Patons Shetland Chunky = 630g.
The first ball of Patons Shetland Chunky Tweeds - Medium Blue Shades, weighed 89.3g. The second ball weighed 87.6g. The third ball weighed 85.9g. The fourth ball weighed 88.2g. The fifth ball weighed 87g. The sixth ball weighed 85g. The seventh ball weighed 83.9g. The eighth ball weighed 86g. The ninth ball weighed 91.6g. The tenth ball weighed 81.4g.
Total of Patons Shetland Chunky Tweeds = 865.9g.
