Cast on 96 stitches. 3 edge+90 body+3 edge on 4mm/US 6 needle. Knit 2 rows before I started. Ended on row 18 so I purled 2 rows and then cast off with a russian bindoff. I may have had 5 yards of yarn left. Final dimensions were roughly 18” X 65” which was what I was shooting for.
I think this pattern looks like spools of thread--ironically the person I made it for is quite a seamstress.
I charted the pattern and discovered that it is remarkably similar to the Upstairs Pattern. This pattern though is true knitted lace with patterning on both sides. I prefer it over the Upstairs Pattern since there appears to be more “movement” to the design and there are NO boring purling rows.
FYI: There are a LOT of P2togtbl in this pattern. I have finally mastered it and I actually enjoy doing this stitch now--practice finally made perfect.
Lol--didn’t notice until I was blocking but there is an error at the beginning of the shawl--YO’s are in the wrong spot!
Yarn: I’ve had this skein for a LONG time and tried it out on multiple patterns before I settled on this one. It definitely was the right yarn for the right pattern. I used Addi Lace needles instead of my usual bamboo needles. The yarn was slippery at first but the brass Addi’s had just enough “grab” and the tips were perfectly pointed to do all those p2togtbl. The yarn didn’t bleed while I was knitting but I now have teal fingertips from blocking it. It blocked beautifully and even with the color bleeding, I will definitely consider using it again because it was really reasonably priced, blocks well and has just enough shine to make people think you’ve used silk yarn.
