Notes

This is a beautiful pattern that knits up my favorite way by knitting a strip of lace, picking up stitches across the length of it and then doing short rows to build the shawl.

The lace border was true lace knitting with patterning on both sides. Following the chart and having to flip symbols on the reverse side made my head hurt so I used the written instructions for that part. Learn to enjoy p2tbl--I used to dread this stitch but actually enjoy using it now.

No issues with the body of the shawl. Once I got it going it was easy and intuitive and was actually a nice break from the intensiveness of the border strip.

I really liked how Paulina instructed you to finish off the top of the shawl by having you bind off and then do crab stitch. I bound off with a lace bind off so it would be stretchier. The pattern did not indicate what to do.

The only change I would make would be to knit this with size 6/4mm needles next time. It wasn’t quite as large as I was hoping for. I blocked it 2 times. The 2nd time I ran crochet thread through the bottom points and across the top and it gained a lot of length through the body that way and pulled all the points out too.

Knit for my friend Faye, who lost her husband in February.
