Notes

I loved the lace and cables in Shibumi and was really excited to start it until I stumbled upon this one: My Casual Cardigan which uses a new technique called the Contiguous Sleeve Method where the sleeves are inset while you knit the top of the sweater.

Apologies to Vera…I combined Vera’s lace and cables with the Casual Cardigan. It’s slightly different since I just used two repeats of the lace/cables on the back but very similar from the front and I think a much simpler way to get things knit.

Absolutely NO problems using the contiguous method with this sweater. The only change that I made was that I started the front panel lace at the same point that I was already knitting the lace on the back and sleeves. That way I was knitting the same row of lace back and forth across the front, sleeve and back.

I used The Knitting Fiend’s Buttonhole Calculator to figure out where to place the buttonholes and I highly recommend it. I was more successful doing buttonholes on the right side on row 4 by placing them when I had a knit stitch. SSK, YO places the hole between ribs and looked a LOT prettier than all the other holes that I tried.

Yarn note: Lionbrand Fishermen’s Wool pills like mad. Not sure I would use it again unless I was knitting something at a tighter gauge.
