Crocheted for Alyssa’s graduation gift. I started the knit version of this but decided to crochet it since it is faster.

Mods:
I changed the color bands to:

2 sections of blue w/4 rows each
3 sections of red w/5 rows each
2 sections of blue w/6 rows each

I did web lines in the dips as well as the points--it looked incomplete to me to not do the dips.

I washed and blocked before I did the weblines and edgings just to make sure it would lay flat.

This thing weighs a ton and covers a full size bed from side to side. I intended to keep on crocheting but was going to need more blue. I had 24 DC in each section before ending.

The afghan buckled even after washing--maybe because I did the center and blue rows with an H needle and then moved up to an I because it was too tight. Anyway, I was concerned and did some research about blocking acrylic with a hot hair dryer while the fabric is damp. It solved the buckling and WORKED BEAUTIFULLY! I used agamerswife’s spider pattern but chained 13.
