DONE! woooo!
The hood and ears came out really well and brought the whole idea together.
The sweater fits well, and is a good weight - warm but still breathable. The Boy loves it and hasn’t taken it off…
All in all, I’m really happy with it! Apparently you can get good results when working with no pattern and flying by the seat of your pants :)

Finished with both sleeves, including the thumb-holes and trim. Now just the hood (and ears) to figure out!

Wow. What am I doing with my life?
The cooler weather has re-inspired me to finish this for my poor boyfriend who’s been so patiently waiting for it.
It looks better than I remember it, for some reason. If it turns out really well, perhaps I’ll knit myself a badger hoodie…

Right sleeve and hem border are done…
not much to show for 5 months since last update - but hey, if I end up being your doctor or surgeon someday you’ll be glad I spent the time studying!

I had active duty training over the summer, but now I’m back at school and trying to get back to this sweater.
Construction’s been going pretty well, considering I’m making it up as I go along. Front and back are done and joined, shoulder-work is done, and I’m about a third done with the right sleeve.

The boyfriend thinks he’s a bear and wants to be one, so he’s asked me to make him a hoodie with bear ears on the hood…
ok - I can do that.
Using Jared Flood’s Adult Tomten as a basis - making up my own pattern based on the pictures. I’ll also be making a few modifications: making it a pull-over, adding thumb-holes in the sleeves… oh yeah, and the bear ears.
