Sorry to use an overused cliché, but the pictures do not do justice to this yarn.

The patten is very easy and suitable to showcase some beautiful hand-painted yarns, I think.
The only thing I could not figure out is what those 2 knit stitches were doing in the middle of each half. They are not surrounding other lace pattern repeats, but just center ones.

I decided to eliminate those stitches, and it is done so easily.

Here are my mods:

• knit one less increase row in the stockinette portion, so there are 189 stitches on the needles (3 edge sts + 7 x 13 + 1 center st + 7 x 13 + 3 edge sts);
• this will make exactly 7 repeats of the lace pattern on the each side of the shawl;
• next time you’ll do 9 repeats, and the last - 11;
• used smaller needles for the picot.

By a stroke of luck, I only had about 5 yds of yarn left, so had I not made the changes, there would not have been enough yarn to finish the shawl. So, all’s well that ends well :)))

No problem winding the yarn this time around! Hopefully that problem is solved by Madelinetosh.
