Many odds and ends of worsted weight yarn used for these - Galway, 220, Paton’s Wool, Wool of the Andes … whatever I had on hand.
Was inspired by the workshop at Green Mountain Spinnery with MJ Mucklestone in March 2012.
Cast on 88 stitches with smaller needle and 1x1 or 2x2 rib for about an inch.
Use smaller needles for young adults or women. Larger set needed for men.
Determine motifs and stitch count using book: 200 Fair Isle Motifs. Then increase to suit, switching to larger needle. Use the 5/7 combo for smaller teenager size, or the 6/8 combo for adults.
Decrease and sew in ends!
Blocking on balloon or an upturned vase is a must.
