The pattern elements were taken from Traditional Fisherman Gansey books and I wrote the graph for the sweater after determining my gauge and finished size of the sweater needed. A traditional Fisherman gansey is knitted in one piece with a gusset in the underarm and the arm is picked up a knitted down to the cuff. I revised this traditional pattern because an inset sleeve fits me better, so the only seam in this sweater is the seam to set the sleeves to the body.
The color of this yarn is a ‘shaded solid’, sort of like faded denim. There is an area on the front where the yarn took the dye slightly darker and appears as a line, so I just have to think it adds to the ‘uniqueness’ of the sweater. This was knitted entirely on 2.5 mm needles. It hibernated several times in the past year in order to do other projects.
