Knit 5 1/2 lace repeats. Purchased nine skeins, but only used about 1/4 of ninth skein. Knit front and back panels in one piece. After last lace pattern repeat for back, knit 54 stitches, placed 46 neck stitches on waste yarn, provisionally crochet cast on 46 stitches, knit provisionally cast on stitches, knit last 54 stitches of row, turned work, and purrled the next row. Then started knitting the first lace repeat of front. After completing the front of the poncho, picked up neck stitches on waste yarn with size 6 circular needle, removed waste yarn, put provisionally cast on neck stitches on needle, attached new yarn, joined for working in the round, worked in garter stitch for 4.5 inches, and bound off using modified SSK bind off.
