29/1/11
Starting with a practice run in BWM classic 5 ply. Just to be sure I can do this. Looks like I can. Have shrunk pattern down to 1/4 the size squares (ie starting with 32 ch, repeating pattern in incriments of 5 rather than 10.) Reason for doing this is my Moda Vera Noir changes colour quicker than the Koigu, in making smaller squares Im hoping to achieve the same (or at least similar) effect.
Still need to work out how many rows to make square. Will sort that out when working with Noir.
Notes for reminder:
Starting each row of Chameleon pattern with 3 sts (of either sc or dc) then proceed with pattern at incriments of 5. Finishing each row with 3sts aswell. For the FPDC row, either start with 4 sc (actually 1ch, 3sc), then do 3 FPDC, followed by 7sc repeat, finishing with sc’s. Or if starting at the narrow point start with 1 ch (as 1st sc),FPDC, 7 sc, then 3 FPDC followed by 7 sc to end, finishing with 1 FPDC and sc.
oh and one last thing, when REintroducing a colour on the side, chain the amount that you’ve built before joining into loops of last st. This makes it heaps tidier and prevents pulling or puckering on edges.

Finished my first square, 8 rows of Chameleon…
I like!
Edged with 2 rows of dc, approx 30sts per side on 1st row, 1 ch in each corner (between 2 dc’s) for both rows. Did the edging in the pink mix (same as background colour) - ‘colour B’ in this square. Reversing colours for the next square, already 1/2 way completed.
Pity Im moving house this week, cos Im enjoying this…
17/3/11 calling this a finished project. Maybe one day I’ll make a blanket. But no holding your breath.
