Notes

Very happy with the outcome!
This hat turned out as a relaxed fit; it’s made for a head circumference of cca 22” / 58 cm, on 4.0mm needles, 120 sts & 85 rnds; now, if one pattern repeat = 12 sts => this hat has 10 horizontal and 6 vertical pattern repeats. The vertical repeats are of 7 rounds before decreases!

Cast on: Started with German twisted cast-on (for a good stretchy edge) on 120 sts +1 st (for invisible join when knitting in the round) using 3.5mm.

Brim of cca 10cm: (K2,P2) to end of round = 30 rounds including the c/on rnd.

Body: changed to 4.0mm needles;
— made {(K6, P2,K2,P2)x10} for 3 rounds => rnds 31-33;
— continued with {1 rnd of (3/3 LC, P2,K2,P2)x10 followed by 6 rounds as above, b/n cable rnds,} for a total of 6 vertical repeats. This equals to one extra repeat compared to the original pattern.
— => body rounds: 31-75, where rounds 34, 41, 48, 55, 62, 69 were 3/3 LC rounds.

Crown decreases: same as per pattern but followed the advice of other fellow Ravelers as in where ever it was K2tog I replaced it with SSK. Also, I added one extra rnd of decreases to accomodate the higher no’s of sts - 120, I started with; therefore, reducing 20 sts per each decreasing round, except last one where I dec’d only 10:
Rnd 76, aka Rnd 1:(3/3 LC, P2, K2, P2)
Rnd 2: (K6, P2, K2, P2)
Rnd 3: (K6, P2, K2, P2)
Rnd 4: (SSK, K2, SSK, P2, K2, P2)
Rnd 5: (2/2 LC, P2, K2, P2)
Rnd 6: (K4, P2tog, K2, P2tog)
Rnd 7: (SSK, SSK, P1, K2, P1)
Rnd 8: (SSK, P1, SSK, P1)
Rnd 9: SSK to end of round =20 sts remaining;
Rnd 10, aka rnd 85: SSK to end of rnd = 10 sts remaining;
— => crown decrease rounds: 76-85.
Threaded yarn through the remaining stitches, pulled tight and secured as per pattern :)

Note to myself: cast-on loose = pull the yarn really loosely under the needle
Also another good video for a stretchy cast-on: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=iTIBTm0QL6A&feature=you...
Make ssk’s instead of k2tog to match the left cables
As I started on 120 sts, I added an extra round of decreases to get to 10 sts on last rnd.
