Loved the first Alannah Hat so much, Brad asked that I make one for him. So we went to Great Yarns! in Everett WA for the first time. Wonderful yarn store!

Brad picked out the yarn. I must say, I would never have chosen these colors but he loves them and they are growing on me.

I discovered, when we got home, that the red yarn was a different type than the green, much to my surprise, and was just a little lighter weight so I decided to use two stands on the tubes. I’m glad I did as the design of the tube, when done with one strand, disappeared into the green.

I used my own mosaic pattern just as I did on the first Alannah Hat pattern, designed online at www.pakin.org/mosaicknit. I used it as though it were Chart A, which is a smaller band than Chart B. This is a 10 stitch repeat. I also added an extra row of stockinette in MC after the first tube and before the mosaic pattern. I meant to do this after the mosaic pattern as well but forgot but Brad didn’t mind so I left it.

This yarn is lovely to knit with and really shows a stark stitch definition. It created deeper folds in the decrease section of the crown and I’m starting to like that aspect.
