Notes

Very fun pattern so far. I’ve gotten to refresh my knowledge about how to carry yarn up the side of the work and to learn how to do a yarn over when it is done between a purl to knit, a knit to a purl, and a purl to purl.

I am especially enjoying my new ChiaGoo needles. I purchased the 4” complete interchangeable Red Lace Twist Tips and I find the extra sharp tips to be so helpful with the P2tog tbl’s.

I was a little confused about how to knit the flower band but, with the help of Ravelry friends, I was sent to a video and also was given these instructions:

wyib slip 5 sts to RN, move yarn in front, slip sts to LN, move yarn in back, slip sts to RN, yarn in front, slip to LN, yarn in back, slip sts to RN ( finally !), purl 1
and repeat :)
This way you have still only two needles. ( and I’m not a fan of cable needles except when more than sts are cabled )

Got it!

11/4: I’m making progress on the lace and have learned to read charts on this pattern (first time!) I found it was easier to switch to two needles to do the lace.

And an important lesson learned: it is better to have two projects on the needles at a time if one of them is lace. That way, you can grab the easy project if you are going to be riding in the car or doing something that involves conversation and reserve the lace knitting for a time when knitting at a table with a good light, plenty of room to set up a chart and instructions, and are likely to have few interruptions.

12/10/17: Finished this morning! I used a traditional bind off but I think next time I might use a stretchy bind off instead.

Left over yarn: 70 g of the teal. 30 grams of eggplant
