Notes

These mittens are a reproduction of the 2010 Canadian Winter Olympic mitts which are sold at the Bay. I saw them and wanted to buy a pair but they are made out of acrylic and don’t wear well according to my sister who is on her second pair.

I knit a basic mitten to fit my hand and then purchased a fleece fabric that doesn’t shed or unravel and cut out a maple leaf shape from a template I had drawn.

I sewed a fleece maple leaf onto each mitten on the side opposite the thumb using blanket stitch.

I had tried to needle felt a 100% pure wool felt maple leaf shape onto the mitten but it was an epic fail hence the need for man made fleece.
