This is the second Vivian sweater I have knit. The first one was the first sweater I had ever knit, the first actual complex garment I’d ever knit.

I can’t say enough good things about this pattern. I just love the sweater and I have never gone anywhere wearing it that someone hasn’t complimented me on it. Profusely!

I’ll say again that this is an extremely well written pattern, brilliantly engineered by the wonderful Miss Teague and I’m finding it just as much of a joy to knit the second time as it was the first.

I was leery about my yarn choice at first because of the minor halo effect of the alpaca content but holy geeze this is exceedingly lovely yarn and the stitch definition is very good and I love how it looks. Aye lot! It sheds though.

I’m again knitting a size 38 to achieve a size 34 since I’m using worsted weight yarn but I’m knitting the size 40 sleeves because I find them to be a slight bit tight when I wear a t-shirt underneath the first sweater I knit.

Sleeve Modification:

The sleeves are knitting up considerably shorter (three inches) than those of the first Vivian so I have added length as follows:

At row 147, continue to end of chart (row 150) then repeat rows 121 to 147 one more time.

This adds 4 inches to length of sleeve from cuff to underarm, bringing it to 22 inches. The width of sleeve (knit in size 40) didn’t need modification.

The body of the sweater was long enough without adding rows.

I ended up with about two feet of yarn left over. Crazy!
