I should clarify that I didn’t actually use the Eden pattern as I didn’t have a copy of the book available and didn’t want to wait to get started! This is an adaptation based on the appearance of Eden.
8/23 It’s blocked and looks very nice! One thing that I notice is that by knitting the stockinette vein into the leaves, they will probably start folding up again pretty quickly. If I did it again, I would just knit the leaves as straight garter stitch. But it will still be pretty even if the leaves curl.
One thing to consider if you are a shy knitter is that you will get a lot of attention while knitting this in public! Everyone wants to come over and ask what it is. :)
Good, fun project! I enjoyed it a lot.
8/22 Blocking now! Knitted a flower for it from the Bendigo Cameo in my stash. The flower I used is a random flower from a Nicky Epstein book. We will see if I like it tomorrow in broad daylight. I might want to do one in a different color instead.
8/21 Set the scarf aside for a long time. Now I’m back to it and it’s basically finished except for blocking, though I might put one more small leaf on it with the tiny bit of yarn that remains, and I might add the flower that it calls for or maybe a ladybug or something. :)
3/28: Five leaves into it and it is going well. Using the Mountain Laurel Leaf pattern for the leaves, which I like because they are garter, and I really like Kureyon in garter. It has a good solid, rustic look. When I graft on each new stem, I flip a coin to decide which side of the stem to attach it to. This way it will look random and not too symmetrical.
Luckily, the construction looks easy enough to figure out. I’ll get a copy of the book to double-check later.
Leaves are 9 stitches wide at their widest point.
3/27: Hmm. Just a bit of an instant gratification problem here. I had this Kureyon, and a vision of a scarf that would be sort of multiple pieces attached. Started creating it. Didn’t like it. Browsed Ravelry, saw Eden, wanted to make that instead. (I did not even remember that it was in my queue already!) But… I don’t have the pattern on hand and I want to knit it NOW. Tonight.
