Notes

This is my first use of the plötulopi unspun yarn. Before I decided for a project I read a lot. This blog post from Helene Magnusson about Plötulopi was very helpful:

My experience: Because the yarn is unspun it has no elasticity in length. I have a hard time to get with my needle into the loops for a k2tog, so I knit especially the lace sections extra loose.

Lace knitting:
I made a lot of errors in the first section of lace knitting and putting in stitch markers between the pattern repeats helped a lot.

Finished first plate Plötulopi right after lace section #3.

08.04.2020

Finished second plate Plötulopi in last rows of garter section #5.

24.04.2020

Bind off (with 5mm hook) without knitting the last 2 rows because I run out of yarn. Only 90cm left of 3rd plate after bind off.

I knitted the last row on this shawl the same day I got message of a very dear friend who went to hospital under desperate health conditions…

03.05.2020

Final thoughts:
The plötulopi yarn makes it so voluminous! It is huge when I wear it. The harsher hairs are a bit peaky, but do not feel it wearing it in the cold air. I would knit this again in another heathered plötulopi colour, it is a very satisfying project. I like this shawl very much!
