this (+ rainbow blowfish) won 1st prize at the 2014 KWKG’s adjudicated show in the category Knees(misc) - Guru! Kate Atherley’s comments: “Detail in the construction is amazing. Adore that there is 2/3 different executions of the same idea.” See more pictures of the entries here.

gave away the bucket of 16 fishes on xmas eve. they were very well received. it is lovely to have family that appreciate crafts!

photo of the 2 purple ones are the proto types. the one to the left is the first one, with a slanted head and loops for spikes. the right one has better stripes but a flat head. I went with the slanted heads and more substantial spikes.

photo with the 16 blowfishes are for bf’s 14 nephews and nieces. the extra 2 will probably go to someone else.

I had a slightly inappropriate idea for “blow”fish photos, and ran that by a few people. some of them said there is no such thing as a good crack jokes, while others suggest there are a lot of good crack jokes coming out of Toronto at the time.. in the end, after finding small square mirrors at the house, I couldn’t resist, and staged the photoshoot with my friend Ina.. turns out the first group is correct, so the last 2 photos in this project contains a bad crack joke.. (note: despite the photos, I don’t endorse licking salt).

prototype 5 in yellow, requires sewing. prototype 6 in orange, seamless is looking good. just need to felt. used 27.6g in P4 and 26.4g in P5. forgot to weigh P6.

17may2013
prototype 1 & 2 in royal purple. prototype 3 in sky blue is a combo of 1 & 2, and I’m mostly happy with it, but need more work to make the seamless part work well. prototype 4 in red requires sewing, but may end up looking nicer. but I guess I need to handle my obsession with as few ends as possible.

29apr2013

prototype 1 didn’t shrink well. now on prototype 2.

18apr2013

finished prototype 1 on the bus today. now it just needs to go in the wash and see how it turns out.
