don’t swatch, slug! this project will be my series of luxury slugs from luxury yarns leftovers.
26aug2020
2 slugs in Blue Sky Alpaca Alpaca & Silk with silk cocoon eyes and black alpaca pupils. For a friend’s relatively new baby and his older sister.
21nov2016
Found a slug I hadn’t added eyes to. Yarn from this project.
19dec2015
Wanted to see if I like Kureyon, so bought one skein on discount and made 2 slugs and one blowfish out of it. The smaller slug only have 5 legs, and there’s not much left of the skein!
22nov2015
Thought I’d taken some pictures, but turned out I gave away a Noro aurora slug without a picture. So 1 undocumented slug. The other new one is a mottled blue slug, with slightly crappy pictures of Kahlua.
23oct2015
Slug in classic brain slug green for shrink. Can’t remember what the yarn is though.
12june2015
Finished another 4 little slugs in Noro Aurora as gifts. I really like this yarn for slugs. All 4 went to Zyrus & Hitomi when I visited them in hk.
1june2015
Another ridiulous octoslug in Noro Aurora. This one may go to god children.

Frillseeker slug has been named Oneida by Sandi Wiseheart, normally pronounced Oh-NAY-dah, (native american word for “people of the standing stones”, she recommends the incorrect American pronoucement of One-EYE-dah. :)
30apr2015
Frillseeker slug inspired by penguinade’s project. Smallest size. The webbing is done with 2 rounds of slipping stitches and then putting part of the yarn along the middle and edges of the feet. Then on the purl round I purled those bits in with the regular stitches. Ran out of yarn for the feet, and decided against buying a second skein, instead, I undid the head and then made the slug a bit shorter. Pain to knit, but might have been better if I used a size larger than 6.5mm.
2mar2015
Got another 4 done for this month. Another one with the fingerless mitts for my brother, going to stick this one on his fridge and see if he notices. Then one with some pink and yellow handmaiden rumple, which was really shitty to knit slugs with because of the boucle. Next anoro aurora slug, and finally a not very luxurious slug from one of my first, seriously underplied handspun.
2feb2015
Because of the sudden increase in ferrous surfaces in my house, a friend suggest I should make a slug a week this year. So far I got 4 done in January. The 4 upside down slugs include the left over alpaca silk, wolverine gloves, platypus gloves, and the silver curacao. Sunglasses are given to me by Laurie.
5jan2015
Made another tiny slug from the leftover alpaca silk techno yarn, and then another slug from the left overs of my silver curacao.
22dec2014
This alpaca silk slug in “classic slug” colours isn’t from left overs, but is made for P’s coworker’s new baby. Eyes are from degummed silk cocoons, and pupils are black alpaca. Knitted with yarn held double.
11nov2014
Found the yarn for the first sweater I knitted and made a slug. Think I used 4mm needles. It’s the second largest slug from the bottom in the dryer photo. Dryer photos include a few ridiculously luxurious handspun slugs
30june2014
Mom sweet talked me out of a slug I made from my noro sweater today :/. The eyes for this one is inspired by the knitted slugs from The Creechure Shop, a few people who knits and fantastically decorate slugs for charity.
26mar2013

6mar2013
madeline tosh merino dk sweater slug. 5 stitch leg slug.
7feb2013
indigodragonfly superwash dk left overs from squares. love the colours in this, it is so rich! this will be a 6 stitch leg
6feb2013
started and finished a slug from leftovers from ink yesterday. that’ll be slug 16 in this batch. 5 stitch leg, on 2mm needles.
25jan2013
- made another blue sea silk slug with double magnets for Theresa, since she liked the other version a lot. the eye might have been felted a little too big.
21sept2012
- slug from iced sweater, 5mm needles, 24 stitch body. this might be the 98th slug..
27feb2012
so photo with 6 mixed slugs, with an innocent looking Cola, is the following from left to right:
21feb2012 - blue sea silk slug
left overs from annis on 2.25mm needles, 30 stitch body.
20feb2012 - red & purple cashmere slug
left overs from these gloves on 2.5mm needles. 30 stitch body.
20feb2012 - blue cashmere slug
left overs from these gloves on 2.25mm needles. 30 stitch body, 6 legs. started and finished last night. so squishy soft!
18jan2012 - red velvet slug
slug 42. had 23g left & used 17 or so. 6 legs, 30 stitch body.
2jan2012 - yak brown slug of courage
slug 32, I think. left over yak yarn, no felting. this one is on 3.5mm needles. I did one extra short row increase and decrease on each leg so they are slightly longer, but the normal length probably is fine. stuffed with cotton fill. the cotton fill is very dense, so it was actually difficult to tack down the legs. the felting needles also didn’t poke through the filling so the eyes are more puffy.
28dec2011 - mini Cashmere slugs
slugs 28 & 30? I think I’m losing count… 6 legs, 32 stitch body. still a bit of cashmere left. that stuff goes a really long way!
20dec2011 - Cashmere Slug
I think this one is slug number 27. 6 legs, 42 stitch body. stuffed with wool, which isn’t as nice as polyfil. the cashmere is very soft.. makes the felted merino eyes feel harsh.
13dec2011 - Mawata Slug
this slug is done on 2.0mm needles. it is made from silk hankies from the goodies bag I got when I took Tabi’s silk spinning course on the weekend. the needle felted eyes are bombyx blue silk from the same bag. it took about 5.5 hankies. might be a bit nicer if I drafted a bit thicker and use one or two more hankies. stuffed with polyfil, which seems a bit wrong… could use a better angle in the photo.
