Notes

7 slugs in this project.

25aug2014

Finally added eyes for the Romney slug, and also knitted up the sample from turtle purls.

7nov2013

used up all the carded Romney mini batt. I did a double decrease on one of the last rows, in case I ran out of yar, but I have about a foot and a half to spare. the Romney was spun too tightly, but the good thing about slugs is that they don’t care :D. need to add an eye or two.

8mar2012

finished the 2 vicuna slugs. 33/23/23/9/5/5 vicuna/silk/merino/camel/cashmere/possum (lighter) and 50/50 vicuna/cashmere (darker). stuffed with qiviut (just kidding). stuffed with organic cotton, with silk eye whites and qiviut pupils. maybe 2 yards of the 33% left. both are 5 stitch leg versions knitted on 2mm needles. have to rename the project after making these ridiculously luxurious slugs.

used a 7.5 mm diameter with 5mm hole magnet fur these two tiny guys.

19oct2012

used up the remaining 9 g from the handspun leftover of painted fern. cable plied that one. had a yard or so left over, so could have made the slug one row higher.. forgot to tack down 2 of the front legs and didn’t realized it till I stuff all the leftovers inside the slug.. this slug is special. it is slug #100!!!! and Tabi suggested adding a roman numeral “C” & doing something special to commemorate. I didn’t really have any good ideas, but on Patrick’s suggestion, I needled felted a “C” as a “tramp stamp”. also added a sterling silver eye brow ring… and the “C”? it is needle felted from a blend of 33%vicuna, 23% silk, 23% merino, 9% camel, 5% cashmere and 5% possum.. that’s special enough, I hope!

22june2012

this took about 2 grams from the handspun left over from my painted fern. still have about 9g left, so maybe I’ll turn the remains into a cable yarn & knit another slug.. this one is tiny.

10jan2012

lets call this one slug 36. first up is bfl/shetland/llama 3 plied. 3.5 mm needles. use up around 25 yards in mini skein 3.5 yds left. yarn is a bit uneven in places, but not much cotton stuffing showing through. 3.25 in high, 2 in diameter for body, 3.75 in diameter including legs. made the legs an extra short row longer.
