I couldn’t get the symmetrical look going with the increases so just did ordinary M1 throughout. Although the twisted rib does compensate for the lack of a smaller sized needle for the rib I think at least for the bottom rib, a smaller needle size would have been a good idea.

There seems to be a mistake in the number of stitches in the collar when beginning the increases to create the shawl effect and it was only when I was picking up the stitches for the second side band that I realized what all the talk of “edge stitch” was for. I was not clear from the wording of the pattern that the edge stitch should be the main colour throughout because you pick up the stitches for the second side from the Wrong side so a visible line is created in the stranded section. If this had dawned on me before I was actually doing it I would have just picked up the band the normal way from bottom edge to bottom edge working from the right side.

Used far less yarn than the pattern specified. A shame as I had enough (as it turns out) of the main yarn I used in enough colours to complete this jacket without breaking into two colours (the Tucano) which I had more than one ball of and could have used for a bigger project than I can now.
