I call it a day… since this didn’t come together as I hoped. - it was suppose to be a gift, but i’m not convinced by the outcome, so …. hours of planning and knitting… all frogged away in a morning.

Started over twice, added a large cable centred on one side, got handles, fabric for the lining & buttons… just in the end I wasn’t convinced.

Final dimensions
base - 38 cm
widest point - 42 cm
top opening - 34 cm

Knit

• Knit top down with yarn held double
• CO 79… Buttonband knit seed stitch
• increase to 220sts
• knit 35 rows (4x8 rows +3)
• centred large cable over 18sts - like this one, just knit top down… (will use it again! very nice!)
• 3needle knit cast off

If I’d knit this again

• Would stick to knit this top down. - I found that this gives more control over the opening dimension & since the shape is earlier established, it’s easier to get an idea about how tall the bag could be.

• Make it more clutch size. - knit only 27rows, so the bag is longer and less tall.

• Since i bought these wooden handles and might use them, I’d split the seed stitch rim into two sides to make it open wider.
