I made this doll’s hat as my first project of knitting in the round. This is knit from the top down. I improvised the beginning of a toy bird and just kept adding 2 stitches on each needle until I thought it would fit the doll’s head (stocking stitch); then I made ribbing (1x1) for the band. It was rather floppy, so I ran a very thin elastic around the edge of the ribbing and it fit!! I was happy to have completed something in the round after getting frustrated over this type of knitting to the point that I avoided it completely! Now I’m ready to try the Watch Cap, or a “man’s” hat for my 13-year old son (he actually ASKED me to make him one!!).
