Notes

I made this Man’s Hat for my 14-year old son. He was very specific about the colours … “Bob Marley colours, but only in thin stripes, the rest of the hat dark charcoal grey, not black”. It was a hit! I made a sample hat first because I didn’t have the chunky yarn suggested in the original pattern and I wanted to be sure of the fit using DK wool. My son didn’t like the plain edge of the sample (but I think I may have cast on a bit too tightly). Anyway, on the final hat I knit the first 1 inch in seed stitch, and he was very happy with that.

I cast on 104 stitches and knit the whole thing on a set of 4 DPNs. I used a whole skein for the grey, and just small amounts for the stripes.
