Im using my leftover worsted weight yarn. I had to go down to a size I hook to get close to the center measurement. After making a couple squares I decided to omit the center 3dc cluster starting in the 3rd row (see the close up red row). This helps to bring the top in a little more. Once I get enough squares to go around I want to figure a way to add the squares in the crochet as you go method.

This is more time consuming than I thought it would be but easy mindless crochet once you get to the squares. The circle increases are not in the same spot so you need to pay attention to that part.
