How is this yarn color Pagoda? Really, people.

I hope to embark upon a complicated knitting project, soon, but I needed something to do in the mean time. I remember this as easy and fun, and I wanted to see what it looked like in a solid rather than an ombre, so sure, why not?

I wanted to make, you know, pinwheels the size the pattern says. I used a J hook, which is the largest hook I’m willing to work with. (I hold my hook oddly, so larger ones are actually quite uncomfortable.) At the larger size, the pinwheel was still too small, so I added rows. At 17 rows, instead of 12, with 15 single stitches per side plus the 4 chain stitch gaps, it measures nine inches, which is pretty close to the 8.75 that the pattern calls for.

Current ideal time for a pinwheel is about 45 minutes. One skein gives me just barely 5 pinwheels.

March 9, 2016: I’m down to the sewing. Gods, I hate sewing.

May 7th, 2016: Still sewing. Or, perhaps more precisely, sewing again. Have I mentioned that I hate sewing?

May 22, 2017: Why is sewing so hard? I mean, I’ve been not doing this for a year, and then I ran out of yarn on my WIP, so I thought I’d sew, and then I did a seam wrong, and had to tear it out, and honestly, how can whip stitch be so damn hard? Also, I am whining. Pay no mind.

May 23, 2017: Ok, I guess I really do hate sewing. It took me more than a year to finish sewing. Admittedly, there were interruptions, like when the cat threw up on it while it was not yet assembled, and it had to be washed, but mostly it was the sewing. And, of course, I managed to sew a seam wrong, and had to tear it out. Then I did the edging, which is backwards single crochet. I haven’t done any crochet in…a year? And I mentioned earlier that I hold my hook oddly, in between my index and middle finger, rather than thumb and index finger like a normal person. So, the afghan, she is done. But I have also bruised the inside of my index finger, and it is swollen and hurts. I didn’t notice it until hours later. I am an idiot. But I am also done, so that’s got to count for something.

And in closing: how is this yarn color even Pagoda? Seriously?
