Notes

Made with yarn I dyed myself! This is size 2 and my daughter is a small 3 1/2. It’s a little short for her.

Note:
After slipping the edge purl-wise, be sure to bring the yarn through the middle and then to the back (instead of through the outside of the work). This creates more of a chain-looking edge.

I first knitted the color in the solid-color (purple). After the collar was complete, I wanted the button whole area to be the solid color (purple). To get the button part of the collar to be the solid color, I knit the first 4 stitches in the purple, then I used both the purple and the multi-colored yarn for the 5th stitch (to avoid a hole). Then, I dropped the purple yarn and knit to the end of the row in the multi-colored yarn. On the wrong side, I knit in the multi-colored yarn until the 4th-to-last stitch. I knit this stitch with both yarns, then dropped the multi-colored yarn for the remaining stitches. I continued in this manner until I had to join to knit in the round.

The method mentioned in the previous paragraph left some imperfect mult-colored stitches on the color. If I were to do it again, I would wait until the 6th stitch to start the multi-colored yarn.

Finished the body

The yarn/finished product looks way more purple in person than in these pictures.
