Knitting on the ferry and we encountered a young woman knitting this pattern. She said it was her sixth. So of course I was curious and seemed like a fun use of some stash yarn. My yarn is heavy sock yarn instead of lace and I only have two skeins so I will definitely be modifying. No nupps.
Clue 1: I did 3/3 as YO k3tog YO because I didn’t understand the directions and didn’t have internet. It gave me the right number of stitches.
Clue 2: using Japanese short rows. Also, pro tip. I put a stitch marker through every tenth end yarn over. This makes it extra easy to know what row I am on.

Finished with clue 2
Skein 1 had 43 grams to start.
Clue 1 took 8 grams
Clue 2 took 11 grams.
So used 19 grams have 24 grams left.
Unblocked 14 inches wide, 6 inches deep

One repeat of clue 3a took 9 grams.
I wound skein 2, it has 54 grams. (First skein is light because I had swatched for other projects and lost some.)

Done! I ended up doing 3A once, the 3B stopping after row 48. Then without intermediate increase rows, clues 5 and 6. The charts transition smoothly.
Unblocked it is 12 inches deep, 33 inches wide. Don’t love the yarn, I don’t love superwash, don’t recall why I bought it. Only one knot in the two skeins but it got slubby. Just not what I’d expect from boutique yarn company.

Now that it is blocked, I have a change of heart. It blocked Beautifully! Final dimensions several days post blocking 46 inch wingspan and 16 inches deep, and as photo shows, a nice size for a shoulder shawlette.
