Caking and swatching! This took all day because the skein was a mess… a 900 yard knot…so much fun. Luckily I think it looks like I’m getting gauge!

I realized that because of my knitting method my twisted stitches on the arms twist in different directions every other row…but they won’t do this when I switch to knitting in the round. I don’t think it’s very obvious, but for further knits, I think I’ll readjust the positioning of my stitch legs before twisting purl stitches on the WS.

I’ve reached the point in the pattern where the raglan increases stop for the sleeves but continue for the front and back. I’ve decided to continue the raglan increases for the sleeves though. The ease on my upper arms will be closer to pattern recommendations that way.
Somehow I have an extra stitch on the front of the body. I must have done it when I cast on for the front, and I’ve only noticed it now. I think I’ll solve this problem at the underarms…
My sleeves now have 60 sts each. The front has 97 sts, but it ought to have 96 sts. The back has 82 sts.
I’ll be casting on 8 sts at the undearms, making the front 104(105) sts, the back 90 sts and the sleeves 68 sts.
According to my measurements + 4” of ease, I need the front to have 114 sts, the back 83, and the sleeves 72.
I need to add another 4 rnds to the yoke length to bring it from 52 rnds to 56 rnds. I’m going to use these rnds to add extra sts to the front and sleeves. This will make the front 108/109 sts and the sleeves 72 sts.
I added 1 more set of raglan inc to the front when I started the 2nd set of short rows, making the front 110(111) sts.
I think I’ll do bust darts of 4/3 sts on each side. That way I’ll have the ease I need, and I’ll even out the stitch count again.

I’ve decided I don’t need bust darts. I did enough raglan increases that I’ll still have some ease at the bust without them. I am still going to do some waist shaping, but I’m adjusting the start of that to 6” below the armhole.

I adjusted the waist shaping a bit, so I have more stitches on the needles than my size calls for. So, I’m also adjusting the decreases for the hem.

I tried this on for the first time, and I’m not liking it! There’s no where near the ease I expected. Now there is quite the difference between my unblocked and blocked gauge, so I’m trying to decide if that’s the issue, and everything is going to be fine…or whether I should rip it out and start all over again! (That would solve the pooling issue at the yoke where I didn’t alternate yarns, but I’m on the sleeves! Ugh!) I should have tried it on earlier, but I put the sleeves on waste yarn that was too small to fit around my upper arms.

Rip it Rip it Rip it
I watched Outlander while I ripped and re-skeined. Now my two skeins are soaking in Eucalan.
I’ve completely gone through the pattern again, and I’m now knitting the 46.25” size with almost no modifications.
