I’ve adapted Petra’s wonderful pattern to use worsted weight yarn. The best yarn is a lovely springy merino, like Madelinetosh Vintage or Stampato Extra. Here are the changes:
Use size US6 (4mm) needles.
CO 48 stitches. Work 18-25 rounds of K2,P2, then start the chart. Start the increases for the thumb halfway, but only do 6 increases (and do them before the first and after the 46th stitches on the left glove, and before the 30th and after the 32nd stitches for the right glove). Do all the thumb stitches (between the increases) as stockinette. Put all those increase stitches on a stitch holder, you’ll add two perl stitches and go back to the K2,P2 pattern. Once you’re done with the chart, do another 10 rows before casting off.
When you pick up the 12 thumb stitches, you’ll pick up 14 total and add 4 that you pick up from the thumb gap. On the second round, do a SSK and k2tog at thumb gap to drop down to 16 stitches.
I think that’s all the changes I made in Petra’s pattern. Good luck and have fun!
