Notes

I Can’t get gauge with 3.5m recommended needle using single yarn like the pattern.

Trying double yarn and size 5mm for body
4mm for sleeves and rib

Gauge is 22sts

CO with 4mm, will see how it goes, after 2 rows changed to 5mm

I changed the raglan increases to m1r and m1l instead of the kfb the pattern suggested to get neater edges for the raglan cables.

Also on the Right Side, every P stitch either side of the raglan was worked with the yarn wrapped clockwise pulling the purl bump st to the back of the needle to try and prevent laddering, it helps a little I think, but this stitch on the wrong side as to be turned to the correct postion for knitting.

On the cable sts I am doing this.

Tip - Work 2 sts, yarn over the top (clockwise), work the other 2 sts
Then on the wrong side row, you work 2st, drop the YO, work the last 2sts, and it helps the cable from being tight at the twist. I love this method especially over larger cables.

Sounds bonkers I know, but I love it.

Worked to 300sts (L) worked a couple of rnds, tried it on and I think this is the time to knit for the (M) size.

Worked to 2” on the body, tried it on, it was too big, so ripped back to half way up the raglan, now working for size Small for the body.

220sts for the body now

For the fair isle

I’ve added 8cm (3”) to body before starting the fair isle.
Decided to use the Lime Green for the fair isle.

After body chart row 27, I repeated rows 4-3-2-1 in that order then 1 row black.

Knitted a small fair isle pattern like rows 6/7 from the chart then a black row. Knitted 2 MC rows, then 6 rib rows. Just makes it a little longer.

Cast off with Green yarn.

I am glad I cast on for the large size because I like the V neck size, didn’t want a V neck high up.

V neck 4mm cast off with Green, CDD in the center

Sleeves - knitting short sleeves - 80sts

I knitted about 2” on 5mm

Now using 4mm
Started picking up the stitches and immediately decreasing - 4sts on the 1st rnd

I will dec down to 60sts for the rib
K2, P2 for 6 rnds
Add Lime Green cast off just knit stitch

Blocking
Before

Width 20.5” (52cm)
Length 22.5” (57cm)

After

not sure if I’m keeping the short sleeve, it will be easy to rip out and pick up the stitches and cast off with the Lime Green for a vest to wear over shirts.

Finally finished this top, not sure about the length of the sleeves, but for now it will have to do.

17th Nov 2024 - lovely sunny day and got to wear my new top, it was too hot though. sun_with_facesunrise_over_mountains
