This is my third shawl using this beautiful pattern! I just can’t resist making them… lol! It is a lot of fun pairing two strongly contrasting colors and watching them paly against each other in this striking and lovely, yet very simple to knit pattern.

I started this on the first day of our 3 week long road trip, which took us across 16 states. the original plan was to spend most of the time in the southwest and the mountains, but it didn’t work out that way. due to some factors out of our control we had to change our plants and after arriving in Taos, New Mexico, we turned around heading for New Orleans, Florida, and then the Outer Banks in North Carolina. It was a wonderful nearly 6,000 miles road trip. I did knit quite a bit, but not nearly as much as i though i would. Those walks on the beach consumed a lot of my time!!!!

so this was stared on the first day of the rip. I worked on this and couple of other projects intermittently.
We came back couple of days ago and just now I finally have little time to finish it. I am working on the border with only about 20 g of each color left.

The colors of these two yarns bring to mind one of the most beautiful and intriguing flowers The Creator has given us - the Dahlias. They come in a wild array of colors - from pure white to almost black purple, and a whole rainbow in between. Dahlias also come in a variety of sizes, from tiny, short daisy-like cuties to enormous dinner plate size stately beauties. I grow them every year in my garden.
The photos of dahlias posted here have been copied from the internet. For some reason I cannot find my own photos. Perhaps it is because I have about… hmmm… 20,000 of them on my phone? I know, I know… time to organize them better.

To keep the neck edge stretchy I make a yarn over at the beginning of each right side row and then drop it without working it on the way back. This little trick keeps the edge more elastic.

I finished last night. Will take photos today.
I ended up doing 5 full repeats of the pattern and just 1 repeat (5 “brick” rows) of the border. I had enough of the pink yarn to do 3 more border repeats, but ran out of the purple yarn.
