This is fun! The pattern is very well written and explained in detail. And the pattern is free! Thank you Frankie!
Once you get past the center square it is pretty much child’s play. Basically, it is a garter stitch blanket knitted from the center out in a squared spiral. As usual with gradients, it is fun to watch the colors slowly change. The corners are done with short rows, but you do not have to knit the warps with the wrapped stitches together! you simply just wrap, turn, and continue knitting. The wraps totally disappear in the garter stitch fabric.
I bought this yarn at a local garage sale this summer and paid only $5 for all 5 skeins. This yarn has been discontinued, so there is no more to have. I will just knit until I use it all up. Perhaps I will add a contrasting border.
This will be my on-the-go project, since it is pretty simple. I have several other projects on my needles, so I am not sure if i will be able to finish it before Christmas. We will see.

I am at the last skein of yarn. Unfortunately, this one is thinner the the rest. I actually knitted several inches with it and had to rip it out, because the resulting strip was visibly narrower. I am considering using this last defected skein for an applied I-cord edging.
This blanket will be rather small, which is a disbandment. It could be suitable for a baby blanket, though. So now i just have to wait for some family member to have a baby girl!
In overall i really like this. To my surprise I never really got bored with it. I have plenty of other gradient yarn and am considering making another blanket using this pattern. I would probably cast on more than 10 stitches, perhaps 15-20. I would also make it rectangular, not square.
About the yarn… hmmm… not happy with it. I like the colors and the chain construction. However, the yarn differs in thickness. One whole skein was thinner than the others. I also came across many sections, where one color would abruptly (not gradually) end and the next one would be different thickness. This resulted in uneven fabric and a lot of wasted yarn. I would not recommend this yarn. It has been discontinued anyways, perhaps for a good reason.
Starting the 4 stitch applied I cord. Have 64g of uniform thickness yarn. This means no more than 26g per side, or 13 g per 1/2 side. We will see. Using size 9 DPNs.
40 g of yarn left after completing the first round of the I-cord. This is enough to do one more applied I cord.

It is finished! soaking now. Once it dries up i will post more photos. It was a quick on-the-go project, very easy yet not boring.
The blanky is small, only 30” squared, that is each side is 30” after washing and slightly steaming.
