This little scarfette has gained my interest some time ago. It is extremely simple, yet it looks sophisticated - thanks to the I-cord edging.
As usual I have dozens of projects on my needles, yet i still am always on a lookout for something very simple and small, an easy project to take along and work on just about anywhere.
I am not listing the yarn here simply because i have lost the label for it. It has been in my stash forever. It is most likely a mix of wool and silk in sport weight. The skein weighted 116 g, therefore I am assuming it holds probably about 400 yards of yarn. I love the colors - denim blue mixed with earthy fall hues.
I was opting for a narrow, smallish scarf. At first I read the pattern wrong and increased every other row (probably about 4 - 5 times). Once I realized my mistake I started increasing every 4 row. After awhile i realized that if I continue at this rate my scarf will soon be too wide, and therefore nothing like the original pattern photo shows. Hence I started increasing every 6th row (an orange locking marker on the edge). That seemed to be ok, but after awhile I still wanted a steeper edge. I changed the rate of increases to every 8th row (turquoise locking marker). This rate was finally satisfactory, but I was already way too far into the project to rip and start again. After all, this is supposed to be “something quick, something slick”! I continued for few inches and then stopped the increases all together and continued straight (a purple metal locking marker). I will reverse this process once I reach the half way point, meaning when I have 58 g of yarn left.
In conclusion, I should have increased every 8th row from the very beginning to create a narrow little scarfette. I may just do that using some other - probably light color - yarn to have a little something for spring! I have a gigantic stash and this little thing is just perfect for those single skeins I fell in love with at some point in the past.

I finished this little thing this morning. If i ever make it again I will make it narrower, perhaps 4” wide. Over all, I can see wearying it as a light weight scarf. I like how the colors interplayed creating almost perfect stripes.
