This project started as something else, which got frogged. As usual, I am working on several projects at the same time and this one just had to wait it’s turn. I just picked it up again last night and now am on the last row of the yoke lace section. so far it looks beautiful.
The Katahdin yarn alone didn’t quite give me the gauge, so I paired it with the cobweb Jojoland Harmony. Both yarns fall into the similar color bracket. The burgundy Seraphim is heavenly soft, but a bit lighter. Hope that the three yarns will work well together.

After examining other Ravelers’ projects I decided that my sweater will need one more lace section. I will then have to recalculate the body and sleeve increases, but what else is new?

Picked up this project again last night, working simultaneously with this and Birds Watching. Ideally I would love to finish them both very soon.
I did 4 rounds of lace in the front and after just a few of plain rows divided for body and sleeves. CO 12 stitches under each arm. Using Japanese Short Row Method, which produces practically invisible turning points. This is the first time I am using it, have always though that it was jut too involving, but it isn’t so. Just like every new skill, it takes few minutes to learn, but once you do, whoala! In the past I have used the “wrap and turned” method and the “German short rows method”, but the results were nowhere near as neat. I founds great instructions for the Japanese method in Asa Tricosa’s book “Ziggurats”, but I am sure there are on-line videos as well.
Once the short rows are completed, the A-line body increases will start. I want this to be more flared at the bottom. May add a cute little pocket on one side. Will make 3/4 sleeves.

To shape the front even better I dded bust darts:
Started 26 stitches from the center on each side - this was the first turning point for a series of short rows. Did total of 9 pairs of short rows 5 stitches apart. This maneuver added about 2” to the bust area. I also did 3 bust tucks on each side, each just one stitch decrease.
I now will do similar pair of tucks in the back, probably total of 6 or 8 stitches and then start the A-line increases on both sides.

Done with the body, now on to sleeves. Added 2 lace sections to the bottom. So far so good.

In the mids of coronavirus epidemic, a week after the governor of Illinois Pritzker announced the lock-down. I have been busy sewing, gardening, organizing my house, and of course knighting. so far everyone is healthy.
Although I am really tempted to start something new (if only to lift my depressed spirit) I vowed to finish couple of projects before. I have already finished the baby dress for our granddaughter Fiona, and now I am about to finish this. I am really almost done - working on ribbing for the second sleeve. Then weave in ends, soak and air dry. Yes! So far I really like this pullover/tunic. Light weight and feminine.
Made elbow length sleeves with twisted ribbing. Did folded hem with 1 purl turning row for the bottom of the sweater and used 3 needle bind of technique. I will post more pictures once the piece is blocked.

It is just about dry now. Tried it on - the fit is amazing! I am very pleased. the only thing I wold improve is the neck opening - it is a bit too wide for my taste. I am considering cutting it off and re-knitting a wider band. We will see.
