While reading through project notes of others who have made this shawl, I stumbled across a HILARIOUS video in this project: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/symbolicalating/tuch-craz...
MODS:
- followed KnitasticNinja’s idea to cast on 15 (multiple of 4 + 3) so it’ll be wider --- the result is that it is wider, but I don’t love the V this created and wouldn’t recommend it.
- worked lace with all k2tog instead of ssk (because I hate ssk)
- working one extra mesh section (32 eyelets; 64 rows) since I have plenty of yarn and allllll the time in the world
In-progress thoughts on how to finish this project:
Debating between these bindoffs
- Picot bindoff here: http://chezlizzie.blogspot.no/2015/07/tutorial-perfect-pi...
- Picot bindoff: -CO 2 sts, k2, pass 1st st over 2nd, k2tog, pass 1st st over 2nd, k1, pass 1st st over 2nd, sl remaining st on RH needle to LH needle, and repeat from - to last 3 st. Finally, CO 2 sts, k2, pass 1st st over 2nd, k3tog, pass 1st st over 2nd, break yarn and pull through last st to fasten off.
- use size 6/0 beads for beaded picot bind off
- BEADED PICOT bind off: on RS, cable cast on 2 stitches, added a 6-0 bead to last cast on stitch, return loop to left needle, Russian bind off 6 stitches (k2tog tbl, return loop to left needle), also adding bead to 4th bind off stitch so that a bead appears in the valley between the picots as well as at the points.

5/23/17 This project may just be the death of me. I just can’t seem to get through the last mesh section … I have dropped so many stitches so many times and have un-knit / re-knit SO. MANY. ROWS.
5/25/17 FINALLY FINISHED THE LAST MESH SECTION. Boo yeah, grandma!!
5/26/17 I spent a couple of hours trying to figure out how to work the beaded picot edging because unfortunately I missed a couple of center yarnovers -on the same side- and so one side was two stitches wider than the other … I couldn’t make it work so that there was a bead on each corner and one in the center while keeping the spacing between picots even, so I skipped the beading and picot and just went with Jeny’s Super Stretchy Bind-off instead.
5/29/17 It’s off the needles; now I just need to block it!
10/5/17 blocked - finally. Size while pinned: 80.5” wide x 34” center to point… it’s so big that when I took the photos I had trouble fitting the whole thing in the frame!
