I cast on 148 stitches using the cable cast-on. I knit the bottom edge in garter stitch using Burgandy (color B), and started round 1 with Community Coral (color A).

Decreases. Following vhglass’s recipe for tapering the cowl:

• decrease 8 at row 20 of first pattern repeat (140 stitches)
• decrease 8 at row 10 of second repeat (132 stitches)
• decrease 8 at row 20 of second repeat (124 stitches)
• decrease 8 at row 10 of third repeat (116 stitches)
• decrease 8 at row 20 of third repeat (108 stitches)

Having completed those decreases, I realized that the neck opening was probably too wide for the intended recipient and continued with an additional two sets of decreases.

• decreased 12 at row 10 of fourth repeat (96 stitches)
• decreased 12 at row 20 of fourth repeat (84 stitches)

The Caron Simply Soft was a bit heavy for this project, but the vowl should be warm.
