Notes

I was inspired by PNASolutions’ blanket to try this pattern. I wanted a pattern that would show the colors in the self-striping yarn to best advantage.

I used the cable cast-on to cast on 182 stitches. A stretchier cast-on would probably have been better.

Yarn. The colors in this yarn are lovely, and go from a slate blue through a sea green, to cream. The yarn also is a pleasure to knit with, and produces a nice squishy texture in garter stitch.

But there were a number of knots in the first skein. I took advantage of that and used the opportunity to untie the knots and join to a corresponding color in the second skein. There was only a very small amount of blue in the first skein.

Markers. I used markers to separate each pattern repetition and also placed a marker on the bottom right-side of the blanket so I would know whether I was on the right or wrong side. That mattered at the start and end of each row.
