Notes

Connect end of short row to next stitch with “pl” in tch bump (pl = pick up a loop by inserting hook in tch bump before inserting in BLO of next st):

R2 A: 16 Bss, tch, turn. (16)

R2 B: 16 Bss, plBsc, 15 Bhdc, 6 Bsc, 3 Bss, snug tch, turn. (47)

R4 A: 16 Bss, tch, turn. (16)

R4 B: 16 Bss, plBsc, 15 Bhdc, 6 Bsc, 3 Bss, plBss, 2 Bss, snug tch, turn. (50)

Instead of sewn seam:
• Work a complete R5, snug tch, turn.
• Work 16 Bss, tch, turn, 16 Bss, snug tch. (I think it’s important to add one more short row to the hatband ribbing to balance the design.)
• Fold so R1 is on top, last row behind, yarn is behind and to the right
• Flat join to both loops of R1, snug tch
• Slst tog, inserting hook in both lps of R1 and BLO of last row, working all the way across (don’t forget pl at the end of the ribbing short row), snug ch
• Close up crown hole w/ smaller hook: insert hook in the strand between ribbing ridges, slst2tog around, cut yarn and sew up remaining hole thru BLO.

Next time, I would add about 1” to the 16-st ribbed hatband, or maybe 1-1/2”
