I’m just going to dive in and start -- hat will fit someone and I’m too distracted with “the news” to swatch for sizing…
Bright blue for Ukraine…
H hook is feeling a might small for slst work. Think I’ll try an I for my Ivy swatch… And I was too loose, so going back to H.
42-stitch pattern is rendering an 8-1/2” tall hat. Fingers crossed…

OMG, I can’t express how delighted I am with this finished hat! Trust Lyudmila’s math! Work the gauge swatch, actually wet block it and measure again -- the math works! Fits me perfectly. I’m going to have a very hard time giving this one away…
I ended up with 7 panels, worked the “42” stitch hat, and it’s just right. Was expecting it to come out about 8-1/2” tall, it’s closer to 9”, which is just right. The “48” would have been slouchy on me -- good if I wanted to add one more pattern repeat and make a man’s size.
LOVED the details and very specific written instructions for this one. Next hat, I’m going to get brave and try using “chart only” now that I understand better how this works. Fingers crossed…
I so hope Lyudmila and her family are OK. This hat has been my silent prayer/not-a-prayer for their safety -- can’t tell you how many tears have been shed every time I get a news update beeping on my phone…

And in case anyone is looking very closely at the stitches on my hat and comparing to my original swatch and the pattern…
I completely messed up the p2l-slst and p4l-slst connecting stitches, so make sure you don’t make the same mistake I did -- read the stitch description CAREFULLY! (At least, more carefully than I did…)

How does this hashtag stuff work? I am such a dinosaur…
