Ashburn for “spirit”, inspiration and slip-stitch pattern.

Some knitters know as it is : after my first Ashburn, I desired another one but I knew that if I wanted a larger depth, I would have to change the rate of increasing otherwise it would have been way to long for my 5’ person.
Did stripes (and ripped several times as I changed my mind…) as I went.
I used about 8 gr. for the picot bind off.

I learned 2 things knitting this project : first, about what is really the main color in this kind of construction. I intended it would be the blue one, Cove, as I used the longest yardage for the entire shawl but strangely (to me) the one I notice the most is Teddy Bear, because I used it in the third section, the one with the most stitches, I’ll remember that! The second thing was understanding why so many knitters are addicted to shawls. It seems to be a very different kind of approach from what I usually knit (sweaters, sweaters, sweaters). Knitting shawls is really addicting, it keeps only your hands busy with simple garter stitch and calm your mind where you can still see your final “creation” taking form.
