This softie’s grin reminds me of my sister. I used scraps from my overflowing stash, a bit of ecru cotton and some brown softer acrylic. I wouldn’t choose the super saver again for the orange because although it provides good shaping it’s just not soft enough. Maybe when the baby becomes a toddler it will stand up well, though.

I have two new babies to crochet for so more stash is biting the dust. The red is Bernat Satin which is a lot softer than the Red Heart. The only change I made was to omit stuffing the cap and instead putting a couple of bells in it for jingle. Try as I might, each face came out different.

9/3/16 Just made another one, using stash remnants as usual. I’ve found that new babies focus on these from birth because of their known fascination with stripes, the black white and red colors, and the smiley face. Great gift for a newborn. This one goes to my newest great granddaughter, Alex, due to join the clan in December.
