I dyed 14g of the grey yarn with black and a little blue acid dye. It didn’t take very well, the alpaca I guess. The Karisma (100% wool) I tied it with was much lighter grey and it is now completely black.

The blue is also much lighter than I’d like, but I am not gonna bother in light of these results.

Oops, stash malfunction. The blue I had selected is DK (and I actually have bright blue Karisma DK in that case), and I had chosen an aran which was used up here in the project. So I don’t have any blue aran weight, and have already dyed an aran weight for the black. What to do.

Ok, call me crazy but I split the Karisma in two to make 1,5. I wound a 19g ball of this.

What I am doing different.
Not bothering with ribbing until I get to 40 sts since I don’t think it is very visible anyway. Also increasing faster so that I get less of a nipple:

CO 4.
1, 2, 4: k1, m1 to end. 32 sts.
3, 5, 7: k
6: k4, m1 to end. 40 sts.
8: k5, m1 to end. 48 sts.
9…: 2x1 ribbing

Leftover grey: 3g. I had to start a skein of blue for a few tentacles.

I took pictures in bad light, in a hurry since I had to send the bag away. I cut off part of the pins and sanded with a nail file, it seems to work allright.

I didn’t think to take a group photo, unfortunately.
